The Sims 3 Preview

The Sims returns with several new features that will change the way you play God. You may be familiar with some changes if you own any of the expansion packs for The Sims 2. One of the exciting new features is the seamless map, this is a continuous map where you play in and out the house throughout the neighbourhood. The growth and development of this neighbourhood will continue simultaneously, not dependent upon where you are in the game.

Remember the eight needs for your Sims? Well this has been reduced, don't expect this to make things any easier though! Bladder, social, energy, hygiene, fun and hunger are all your Sims need now. Your Sims will remind you if the status of any of these is getting desperate by a wishes and opportunities feature. Just like real people Sims have desires for their lives, what would they like to achieve over a lifetime? Well Electronic Arts have included the sims lifetime goal which is your job to help them achieve. Feel bad if they drop dead without having ever seen a glimmer of this achievement.

Various add-ons from the previous expansion packs have been integrated into The Sims 3. Owning pets, fishing, gardening, beaches, college, cell phones are just some of the additions. The playability of each of these is not as extensive as seen in the expansion packs but go together to create a decent collaboration of them. There is only so much you can control, otherwise the game would be far too lengthy.

The Sims 3 'Create a sim' has been dramatically improved with far more detailed variations between each sims, to give that unique feel for each one. The personality feature now allows your sims to have traits which will represent them throughout life. Whether you grow them to be a slob, lucky, flirty or insane all sims will be different however just as in life many children will grow up with similar traits to that of the parents.
