The release date for Electronic Arts most anticipated title of the year has been delayed until June 2nd 2009.EA's CEO had some words on the matter "We see this as being one of the most important launches in our company's history, and certainly in the upcoming fiscal year." He also explained that this had been due to promotional activities and the need for more innovation in advertising. This will not satisfy gamers who have already pre-ordered or were counting down the days until the release.The CEO further commented "The June launch combined with the break-through game the team is building gives us the perfect runway to create awareness for The Sims 3.”
The news is suprising due to the current economic downturn leading many to think that game developers would push for earlier releases rather than push titles into the next financial year. EA have stated this for Dragon Age and Godfather II as well. It is expected that no real faults have been recognised with these titles just simply that better promotion is needed. The developers have however commented that the extra time will allow "polishing" of the The Sims 3 will now be less rushed.
